The best time to visit Emei Mountain is from April to June and September to November. In spring (April - June), the mountain is covered with blooming flowers, and the weather is mild. In autumn (September - November), the leaves turn golden and red, creating a beautiful scenic view. Avoid visiting in summer (July - August) if you don’t like heavy rain, and in winter (December - February), the mountain may have ice and snow, which requires careful walking, but it’s a good time for viewing rime.
Clothing: Even in summer, the temperature on the mountain (especially at Golden Summit) is much lower than at the foot, so bring a light down jacket or a thick sweater. In winter, prepare warm clothes like down jackets, thermal underwear, and gloves.
Shoes: Wear comfortable non-slip sports shoes or hiking boots, as there are many stone steps on the mountain.
Other items: Sunscreen, sunglasses, a hat (to protect against strong sunlight at high altitudes), a reusable water bottle, some snacks (like chocolate or energy bars for supplementing energy), and a portable umbrella or raincoat (the mountain weather is changeable, and it may rain suddenly).
Yes, there are various accommodation options on Emei Mountain, including hotels, guesthouses, and monasteries. You can book them through online platforms like Ctrip, Booking.com, or Fliggy in advance, especially during peak seasons (holidays, weekends) to avoid no rooms available.
Near the foot of the mountain (Baoguo Temple area): There are many hotels and guesthouses with convenient transportation and complete facilities, suitable for those who want to rest well before climbing.
Mid-mountain (Wannian Temple, Leidongping area): Accommodation here is suitable for those who plan to climb to Golden Summit the next day, saving time.
Golden Summit area: There are a few hotels, which are ideal for viewing the sunrise, but the price is relatively higher, and you need to book far in advance.
