I’m from Chongqing. I’ve helped 100+ foreign friends. One Canadian couple came in winter. They walked all day. “My body hurts,” said the wife. I told them: “Go to a hot spring. Soak. Relax. Let the water fix you.”

They went to Beibei Hot Spring (Beibei Wenquan). Came back smiling. “We slept better that night than in our hotel.”

Chongqing is built on hot water. Over 100 natural hot springs. Some are wild. Some are old. Some are fancy.

Beibei Hot Spring

Beibei Hot Spring (Beibei Wenquan)This is the oldest hot spring in Chongqing.

It’s in Beibei District (Beibei Qu). Address: Foot of Jinyun Mountain, near Jialing River. Take Metro Line 6 to Beibei Station. Then bus 518 to Sanhuashi Station. Walk 5 minutes.

The water is warm (35–37°C). It has silica and boron. Good for skin and joints.

You can see the river. The mountains. It feels peaceful.

There are indoor and outdoor pools. Some are private. Some are open.

Price: ¥228 for adults (discounted). ¥174 for kids (1.2–1.4m).Best for: Couples, older travelers, those who want history and nature.

Nanquan Hot Spring

Nanquan Hot Spring (Nanquan Wenquan)This one has history. It’s been used since the Song Dynasty.

It’s in Banan District (Banan Qu). Address: 6 Nanquan Road, Huaxi River. Take Metro Line 3 to Huaxi Station. Then bus 309 or 327 to Nanquan Station.

The water is hotter (up to 49°C). It has fluoride and silica. Good for muscles.

The park has waterfalls. Caves. A small mountain to climb.

You can take a cable car. Or ride a slide down the hill.

Price: ¥96 on weekdays. ¥115 on weekends. Kids half price.Best for: Families, active travelers, those who want fun with their soak.

Story: A French family said: “We soaked, then rode the slide. My kids laughed for hours.”

Tip: Wear swimwear. Bring flip-flops.

Ronghui Hot Spring

Ronghui Hot Spring (Ronghui Wenquan)This is the most modern.

It’s in Shapingba (Shapingba). Address: 6 Huiquan Road. Take Metro Line 9 to Tianlilu Station. Walk 20 minutes. Or take bus 224 to Ronghui Wenquan 1 Station.

The water comes from 1,800 meters underground. It’s rich in calcium and magnesium. Called “underground gold.”

There are 55 pools. One is shaped like a hot pot — red and spicy looking! Fun for photos.

There’s a water park. A spa. A shopping street nearby.

Price: ¥159 (Mon–Thu). ¥179 (Fri–Sun). Family ticket: ¥219 (weekdays).Best for: First-timers, families, those who want luxury.

Tip: Try the “fire and ice” combo — hot pool, then cold plunge.

Haitang Xiaoyue Holy Land Hot Spring

Haitang Xiaoyue Holy Land Hot Spring (Haitang Xiaoyue Shengdi Wenquan)This one is close to the city.

It’s in Nan’an District (Nan’an Qu). Address: 587 Nanping East Road. Near Nanbin Road (Nanbin Lu). Take Metro Loop Line to Haitangxi Station. Walk 15 minutes.

The water is from 3,000 meters deep. 52.8°C. Good for blood flow.

There are 52 pools. Some are in caves. Some are for beauty (rose, milk, tea).

After soaking, walk 5 minutes to Nanbin Road. See the night lights. Take photos.

Price: ¥98 for adults. ¥39 for kids.Best for: Solo travelers, couples, photo lovers.

Tip: Go after 18:00. The night view is better.

Jingangbei Wild Hot Spring

Jingangbei Wild Hot Spring (Jingangbei Ye Wenquan)This is free. Natural. Wild.

It’s in Beibei District (Beibei Qu). Next to Jingangbei Old Village (Jingangbei Laocun). Take Metro Line 6 to Beibei Station. Then DiDi to the village.

No pools. Just hot water coming from the ground. Flows into the Jialing River.

People sit on rocks. Soak their feet. Some bathe in the river.

No lockers. No towels. Bring your own.

Price: Free.Best for: Adventurers, budget travelers, those who want real local life.

Story: A Japanese backpacker said: “I sat with locals. No one spoke English. But we smiled. Shared tea. Felt human.”

Tip: Go early morning or late evening. Less crowded.

Tongjing Hot Spring (Tongjing Wenquan)This is the biggest.

It’s in Yubei District (Yubei Qu). 1-hour drive from downtown. Take Metro Line 4 to Huangling Station. Then bus 9106.

25 natural springs. Water up to 62°C. One of China’s largest spring groups.

The park has canyons. Rivers. Caves. A boat ride through a dark tunnel.

Price: ¥118 (Mon–Thu). ¥148 (Fri–Sun). Kids ¥58.

Best for: Families, nature lovers, full-day trips.
