How Many Days for Siguniangshan from Chengdu? The Only Itinerary Guide Foreign Travelers Need

Updated: Oct 29

You’re in Chengdu. You’ve seen the pandas. Now you want real mountains—snow peaks, quiet valleys, and starry skies.

But everyone asks: “How many days do I need for Siguniangshan (Sìgūniáng Shān, 四姑娘山)?”

Here’s the thing:

I’ve taken over 10 trips to western Sichuan.I’ve watched German hikers miss the bus, Canadian couples get altitude sickness, and Brazilian backpackers skip the best valley—all because they didn’t plan right.

Snow-capped mountains under a clear blue sky, with golden hills and sparse trees in the foreground. Majestic and serene landscape.
Siguniangshan

This guide cuts through the noise.

2-day trip for busy travelers

3-day adventure for serious hikers

Exact transport times, real guesthouse tips, and what NOT to do

All in simple English. No jargon. No fluff. Just what works.

Getting to Siguniangshan: Bus, Shuttle, or Private Ride?

Public bus from Chadianzi Bus Station (Chádiànzi Kèyùn Zhàn, 茶店子客运站):

  • Departs 8:00 AM–3:00 PM

  • Takes 4.5 hours

  • Costs ¥90–120

  • Buy tickets on WeChat → “Sichuan Bus Ticket” (ask your hotel—they’ll help)

Tourist shuttle (round-trip ¥150):

  • Leaves Chengdu at 7:00 AM, arrives 12:00 PM

  • Returns at 4:00 PM

  • Only for 2-day trips—too rushed for real hiking

Private car or shared ride:

  • Route: Chengdu → Dujiangyan → Wenchuan → Li County → Xiaojin → Siguniangshan

  • Cost: ¥400–600 per person (cheaper with 3–4 people)

  • Best choice—flexible, faster, driver often speaks basic English

A UK friend took the shuttle once.

“We got in at noon. Park closed at 5. Spent 3 hours eating noodles.”

Trust me: If you want to hike, skip the shuttle.

Where to Stay: Town vs Inside the Park

Most travelers stay in Siguniangshan Town (Sìgūniáng Shān Zhèn, 四姑娘山镇)—formerly Rilong.

Why?

  • 50+ guesthouses with English-speaking owners

  • Hot showers, Wi-Fi, and yak meat hotpot

  • 5-minute walk to Shuangqiao Valley (Shuāngqiáo Gōu, 双桥沟) and Changping Valley (Chángpíng Gōu, 长坪沟) entrances

Inside the park:

  • Shuangqiao Valley: A few basic guesthouses near Hongshan Forest (Hóngshān Lín, 红杉林)

  • Changping & Haizi Valleys: Camping only—bring your own tent

  • No heating, no hot water, no Wi-Fi

Don’t waste your time hunting for luxury inside.

Even the “best” rooms have shared toilets and cold floors.
